Stop Global Whinning
Global warming has nearly become a religion for some people. They have bought in to Al Gore's exaggerations of climate change. I believe we need to care for the planet and be prudent, but I don't believe that we are on the brink of disaster or that global warming is man-made.
Fortunately, scientists have had enough and are calling Gore on his rhetoric. They are beginning to force him to restate his exaggerated claims and change some of the slides in his slideshow.
More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. (including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s) in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, earth science, and environment) have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate.
NASA shows the oceans are actually cooling. Russian scientists predict a cooling period coming in 2030-2040. Read a few articles that debunk the global warming myth
The earth is going through natural cycles of warming and cooling. Just read Time magazine articles in 1924 about global cooling, then articles in 1939 about global warming, then articles in 1974 about global cooling, and today articles about warming. The New York Times ran stories in 1924 about global cooling; in 1935 about warming; in 1975 about cooling; and today there are stories about warming.
Be careful in accepting facts that just aren't true. Be very careful in accepting governmental efforts to collect billions of dollars in so-called "cap and trade" tax policies that will somehow fix a problem that simply doesn't exist. This regressive tax would increase the average Utah family's electricity bill by $3,435.65 or nearly $290 per month.

Mormon Videos Viewed Over 1 Million Times
As of this afternoon, the 18 videos on the Mormon Messages YouTube channel have been viewed over 1,000,000 times! The two recent videos about Mormon temples have been viewed over 430,000 times since they were put up 12 days ago and 4 days ago, respectively. I am amazed at the response by so many good people to promote these videos.
You may also notice that the Mormon Message channel now has an updated design, thanks to the flexibility granted when the Church obtained Content Partner status with YouTube.
Video About Blessings of Mormon Temples
As a follow-up to the recent Why Mormons Build Temples video which has had over 310,000 views, the Church has posted a new video titled The Blessings of the Temple that provides additional information on how temples bless individuals and families.

New Gospel Art Book

The Church has just published a new collection of 137 pictures in a spiral-bound Gospel Art Book. Church leaders, teachers, and members can use these pictures in Church classes and in the home to help people learn and teach the gospel. The book also includes scripture references that correspond to each picture.
The book includes an index that lists the pictures and gives references to scriptures and other sources. You can buy a single copy for $3.50 or a box of 20 (to share with your friends) for ony $1.50 each. This book replaces the current Gospel Art Picture Kit of separate pictures in a blue plastic box (which sold for $30.00). Learn more about the Gospel Art Book.

Bucking the Media Hype on Global Warming "Crisis"
European President denounces global warming hysteria
NEW YORK CITY - Speakers at a conference on climate change have made the case that the alarmism behind the global-warming bandwagon is politically motivated and cannot be confirmed by science. The second annual International Conference on Climate Change hosted by The Heartland Institute was held in New York City march 8-10, 2009. More than 700 registrants gathered to hear more than 70 scientists, representing the views of tens of thousands of their colleagues, that environmental advocacy groups and politicians have hyped the issue unfairly into a crisis.
One of the headline speakers to open the event was European Union and Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus, who said that those who propagate global-warming hysteria are not willing to listen to opposing views. "They [consider] you a naïve, uninformed and confused person..."
Klaus believes that politicians who propagate global warming hysteria only have one goal in mind: control of the public. "It is evident that the environmentalists don't want to change the climate," he said. "They want to change our behavior...to control and manipulate us."
And he warns that those same politicians wish to engage in energy rationing -- all because of a problem that he believes does not exist.
Other speakers:
Dr. Richard Lindzen, who has been Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at MIT for over 25 years, said global warming hysteria is more about a political agenda and has nothing to do with science. "I think [there is] one point you should notice as one discusses the science, and that is that global warming alarm -- as far as I can tell -- has always been a political movement, a highly organized one," Lindzen observed. The MIT professor, one of the world's most respected atmospheric physicists, said that many of his good friends and colleagues have subscribed to global warming alarmism because they either fear for their jobs or see it as a way to get funding for scientific projects. Lindzen contends that climate models are being fed erroneous information in order to get the results that global-warming alarmists want.
Dr. Michael Coffman is the CEO of Sovereignty International, a U.N. watchdog organization. After leading a multimillion-dollar research effort on global warming, he found that "the data that was being collected just didn't support the hypothesis that man was causing global warming." He concludes that "any amount of money that we spend on it is not going to change any temperatures whatsoever." Proposed legislation will "cause every American family to spend at least two- to five-thousand dollars more a year...to try to support this effort to curb carbon-dioxide emissions." Coffman warns that politicians are moving towards having an international tribunal established which will regulate carbon emissions. "Which means basically since carbon dioxide is involved in all elements of business in the United States, ...whoever does this controls the economy of the United States, and therefore our sovereignty."
