Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple: 130th Mormon Temple
President Monson began the first of 9 dedicatory sessions for the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple following the cornerstone ceremony. Nearly 2,000 attendees are expected to attend each session over the next three days. On Sunday, August 23, two dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to selected Church meetinghouses throughout Utah, including ours. It will be a great experience to attend the dedication.
The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple is the 130th temple in the world, the 13th in Utah, and located in the only city (South Jordan) in the world that has two temples in its city limits.

Hybrid Cars Will Save the Earth

General Motors says that its Chevrolet Volt (half electric/half gasoline) car could get 230 mpg in city driving. Yeah!
The end of all our economic woes! Just run on electricity for less than 3 cents per mile, instead of about 15 cents with gasoline.
Only problem is...
- Battery pack has only a 40-mile range. After that, a small internal combustion engine kicks in to generate electricity for a total range of 300 miles.
- Some studies show that the creation of the electricity to run a car actually pollutes the air more than the gasoline combustion engine would for the same number of miles.
- The Volt costs about $40,000. So you have to drive 233,000 miles (saving 12 cents/mile) to just break even over the cost of a $12,000 car.

Their initial blog post states: “You may notice a different, more conversational tone on this blog than you would see in official news releases on the Newsroom Web site. This blog will be managed and written by staff of the Public Affairs Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The information here will be reliable and accurate but should not necessarily be viewed as official statements from the Church. Share Your Voice Online: Adopt a Site

The More Good Foundation has just offered a new way to help members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints share their voice online and have a positive impact on the content that honest seekers find when they google information about Mormons.
The foundation is offering you the chance to "adopt" one of their existing Web sites in an area that you might have an interest. For example, if you have a great interest in single adult life, Mormon youth activities, German food, the Frankfurt Germany mission, the arts, or student life, the More Good Foundation is willing to create a Web site around those themes and let you manage it to share your thoughts, photos, videos, and posts about that topic.
The fact that you are a Mormon doing this means that people who visit the site will automatically learn more about who we are as a people, our diversity, and our varied interests. This can often lead to further interest in our faith and serves in a significant, yet simple way to dispel misperceptions that are otherwise prevalent on the Internet and in the media about us. You can share your interests online and be an influence for good.
If you decide to adopt a site, the foundation will design and host the site and then train you how to upload content, photos, videos, and posts. It can be an individual or group project. All you need to know is how to type and have an interest in a particular topic that you would like to share online as a Mormon in a positive, non-preachy way.
If you are interested, please contact Karen at the More Good Foundation at km@moregood.com.

So Paula Abdul won't be back next season on American Idol, reportedly because she wanted $20 million and they only offered her $10. Maybe it's also because she's often so drunk she is hardly coherent.
